Party Room
OK, since this isn't a real con and we don't have a meeting room to use, I was hoping we can do what I've done at other cons to make it more fun. I'm hoping with everyone's help we can afford to have a "Party Room", meaning if everyone can chip in what they can we'll have a space to use for parties, Q&A's, whatever, without being in any one person's room all the time. I will of course have my room open most of the time but I don't think it's enough room for what we want to do. The room is of course $99 plus tax a night so if it's possible and I get enough people wanting to chip in for it we'll have a nice party spot for Friday and Saturday night. We'll even give it a name and put a sign on the door and it'll be stocked with snacks and drinks along with games and whatever else we want to put in it. If it doesn't seem feasible and we can't afford it then we'll have to use at least 2 of our rooms as our "con rooms". I'll be contacting everyone about this to see if we want to do it. Please get back to me ASAP so I can make arrangements.
Food, Snacks, Drinks, Alcohol
I will bring some stuff with me, some stuff I will buy there. I'm hoping everyone can pitch in a bit to help stock snacks and drinks and even alcohol if you're drinking. I will bring my blender and I have friends that live there bringing theirs. There should be a fridge in the rooms but I'll bring my coolers as well. I will get together a list of what I'm bringing and send it out to everyone on Facebook, it seems the easiest way to communicate with everyone. Then I hope everyone attending can get back to me with what they would like to bring. If you're unsure what to bring then I will take donations so I can buy what we need to serve everyone.
As we all know alcohol will be the most expensive thing, I'll make a list of drink mixin's I'm bringing and I'll make a list of stuff I could use to help make my oh so famous mixed drinks. We all know and love the Margarita, the Pina Colada, the Strawberry Daiquiri, but there's so many other wonderful drinks to keep our groovin' time groovy!!! We will also need soda, juice and the like for our non-drinkers and anyone under the legal drinking age.
Food and snacks can be anything from bags of chips, Doritos, popcorn, nuts, veggie trays, fruit trays, tortilla chips and dip, salads of every kind, cookies, crackers, cheese, dips to full out sandwiches and pizza and everything in between.
So, you want to make some extra money...
Everyone and anyone wanting to make a few bucks is welcome to join in, throw out a blanket and sell your wares. We have no dealers room, no auction, no con store, but we do have each other and our guests to supply us with wonderful buying opportunities. I figure we can use any time we're in the hotel rooms as a time to shop, during the picnic will be another fine time sell your wares as well. For our Special Guests, if they choose to sell autographs, photos or whatever they have, they will choose prices, when and where. It's completely up to them if and when they want to sell things. I'm sure if you have an item you'd like to get autographed they'd be happy to oblige but I will check with them to make sure it's ok before the event. Announcements will be made as soon as I have the info, it may not be until we're there so be patient and be prepared.
For me...not only will I be supplying the prizes for our games but I hope to have a selection of items I'm putting up for sale, not auction. I can't really say what those items are now, I'm still getting them together, but there will be some very nice items, trust me. Now, don't worry, it's not gonna be like really expensive stuff, it will be mostly autographed items but I don't think my prices will go much higher than 50 bucks. I will take Canadian or American dollars. Remember, be prepared, that's all I can say.
Fun Stuff
I know I need a vacation, I need some fun, I want to hang with friends, talk all night and laugh till I pee my pants. I'm doing this cause I miss my friends, I miss having a con to go to and since I don't have much money I've decided if nothing else I'm gonna have my own party. And if you're gonna party then it's best to have a bunch of friends along. Mike started the idea but I think I've made it my own cause I really can't see Mike in tie-dye. Here's the fun part, if we're gonna get together, get crazy, work off the stress of life and have a party what better way then to get into the groove.
I suggest a costume party for the whole weekend. Yes, some call me crazy, but you have to have fun if you're dressed in tie-dye, fuzzy shirts, pants, shoes, neon colors, strange hats, suede vests, funky scarves, or any other kick back from the 70's. Take a clue from the 1969 episode of our favorite show and get groooooovy man!!!! Yes I'm old enough to remember that time but if you're not, I'm sure you have some kind of retro look that will get you in the mood. Even crazy cool sunglasses will help add to the vibe. And if we all do it then we won't get looked at like we're crazy, we'll just get looks wondering why we're all dressed up and where the party is. And because of the Canadian Country Music Awards, I think we can even include cowboy wear as part of our costume. Pull out the cowboy hat, slip on some tight jeans, your boots, a white tank top or a nice button down and get your booty shakin'.
More fun things to think about. I've come up with scifi names for my mixed drinks to make things more interesting. Yes there will be a list, when is there not a list or should I say, menu. So, think themes kids, fun stuff, crazy games and lots of giggles.
